Hot Press Natural on a 2400

Hot Press Natural on a 2400

2011-02-17 by voranado

Does anyone know why Epson is not providing a profile for the paper on the 2400 printer? Any experience with this paper on the 2400? I am one of the troglodytes still using ABW :)

Thanks,

Steve

Specifically, he said he uses the UltraSmooth Fine Art profile for Hot Press Natural on the R2400.

Hi Steve -

I use the Hot Press with my 2400 all the time and yes, you select Ultrasmooth as the paper setting and I still use ABW too :)

Also be sure to set the ink load to -5% for best dmax.

Me too, it's great. We aren't troglodytes, we are intelligent BW photographers who weigh all the issues and decide what works best for our needs.

Clayton,

How do you do this? "> Also be sure to set the ink load to -5% for best dmax." I have only adjusted the ABW settings and the images seem fine...

Hello AnnMarie,

Sorry for my late reply, I've been out of town

> How do you do this?

On the Main tab page near the bottom there is an "Ink Config" button which opens a small window with two slider controls. The top one defaults to 0% in the center. Just slide it down to -5%. I save it as a "saved setting" for when using this paper.

"> Also be sure to set the ink load to -5% for best dmax." I have >only adjusted the ABW settings and the images seem fine...

It won't affect general image quality, just dmax. Every paper has a certain amount of ink it can accept before becoming overloaded. Overloading a paper can cause a lessening of dmax. It varies among papers, so each one has to be tested to find the optimum ink load for your printer/ink combination. When I first began using HPN I ran some tests and found the best dmax at -5%. Innova Soft Textured Art is also -5%. VFA is 0%.

Regards,
Clayton
