ink low light blinking

Basic info: Epson 10600 Cone K6 SE inkset StudioPrint RIP I have an ink-low light blinking (M/LB). I had turned off the chip recognition capability in the service panels when I changed from color to B/W inks. I have been monitoring the inks by weight as I assumed I wouldn't be getting any messages from the carts. Why is this light blinking now? The weight of the cart indicates it is about 1/4 full. Any ideas about this? Should I add ink to the cart? Your help is appreciated. Paul
