Epson 2000P refillable cartridge problem--Help

2011-04-21 by ioannislambadaris

Hello I am converting my EPSON stylus photo 2000P into BW.
I have bought the MIS BW inkset (EBONI6) from www.inksupply.com.

Upon trying the color TO16 refillable cartridge from inksupply I
observed that there are no clearly shown breathing/venting plugs. The
cartridge, although recognized by the printer, wont print.

After inspecting the cartridge closer I was able to see some type of plugs that were difficult to remove located close to the refilling ports. These seemed to be the breathing/venting plugs which I removed.
Unfortunately there was ink spillage all over the place while printing.

A picture of the kit is shown at
http://www.inksupply.com/product-details.cfm?pn=REF-15/16-6-KIT
(I have the MIS BW inks instead of the color ones otherwise the kit is the same).

Could anyone kindly help me on how to use the TO16 refillable cartridge from inksupply (needless to say the company did not reply to my enquiry)

In the older 2000p carts there was a tape/yellow tab that had to be removed. It covered the air inlets. In the photo you link to above of the cart it looks like the black cart had one of those.

I have not seen the type of cart for a 2000p that is in the photo, but some of the pre-filled carts I have seen from MIS use the small stoppers that are flush with the top of the cart to plug the fill holes. I assume they are intentionally made hard to remove so that people will not remove them thinking they are the air inlets. The air inlets use colored plugs with tabs that make them easier to remove.

If you can see into the side of the carts, the fill hole is directly over the reservoir. See the image at http://www.inksupply.com/instructions/r260_slc_refill.pdf
