Panoramic Print Exchange

Panoramic Print Exchange

2002-02-28 by janishilesh

I just concluded the 13x19 Print Exchange, and it was quite a
sucessful effort by all participants. As a follow-up, I am interested
in coordinating a print exchange in a panoramic format. The guidlines
are: (1) first 11 participants to respond will get in, (2) the print
must be made on 13x37 inch paper (you will have to cut up roll paper
for this), and (3) image to be 12x36 - classic(?) 1x3 panoramic ratio.

I will have to figure out shipping details for such a large size, and
that is why it is imperative that all prints be made on same paper
size. The images can be photographed on panoramic cameras, or
stitched together digitally. The idea is a seamless panorama, not a
disjointed one. I discourage blowing up a small portion of 35 mm film
to this size. Large format film (4x5 and larger) blown up this big is
OK.

The print turn-in date (to be determined) must be adhered to. Best
wishes.

Hi Shilesh,

This is a demanding exchange that you propose. The hard part
is finding shipping tubes. I have not found an inexpensive outlet
for tubes. Everybody will end up with a random assortment of
sizes, etc.

I also suggest shrinking the overall print size a bit. For instance,
8" roll paper is reasonable and readily available. 8X24 is a nice
size.

No matter what size, when you are ready to do it, I'll add my 11
prints to the roll. I'm looking forward to seeing how our last
exchange looks.
