Opinions on the newer Epsons

Opinions on the newer Epsons

2012-02-29 by sethrus

Okay, my main choices are down to three. I am going to dedicate an 1100 or 1400 to QTR/MIS B&W.

Also, I am going to go to a second printer as a main color (always matte) and occasional B&W glossy. Print sizes aside (I haven't hathe desire for 16x20 since darkroom days, which of the following will give the least fits? I am gettng too old for tantrums.

Since I have a plethora of MIS K4, all I would have to replace is the M/LM inks.

2880, 3000, or 3880? (An aside, it frosts my butt that Epson would put in WiFi without RJ45 also; and, 10/100 and gigabit)

The 2880 seems to be a continuation of R2400 frustrations with feeding.

The 3000 Seems to be a 2880 with both blacks at $150 more.

The 3880 seems to be a true pro build.

So, here it is:
All three vary in pl size from 2-3.5. Does it really matter?

Is the 2880 really an improvement over the 2400?

Does the 3.5pl of the 3880 reduce the amount of head clogging with K3/K4?

Does the 3000 have the feed issues of 2400/2880 with art papers?

Is ABW even NEAR archival (MIS EBoni/LK/LLK) now in a 3000 or 3880? Or, with QTR control?

Thanks for the input,

Seth

QTR does not support the 1100.

See page 1 of http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/Eboni-4-Plus.pdf for a comparison of carbon v. ABW v. neutralized third party B&W.

There is no one solution that does it all.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
