Claria-Noritsu B&W cards

Speaking of Claria-Noritsu, I thought I'd mention that I'm using a somewhat "standard" color setup in my 1400 now. I do use Noritsu inks for most positions instead of Claria, but the color ink arrangement gives me a good color printer plus the B&W cards I like. For the B&W, I use QTR and make the cards with, in effect, half a black only profile and half a full color neutral profile. For un-sprayed Claria prints on at least Epson Premium glossy paper, the neutral patches made with the color inks actually have better Color I* scores and delta-e's than do the similar neutral patches made with a black only profile. Compare the tests at http://www.aardenburg-imaging.com/ So, I made a single QTR profile that combines BO and color for Claria/Noritsu and the 1400. I use it for the Red River Polar Pearl Metallic cards I like. The light color inks smooth the BO sufficiently, and the BO reduces the color shifts sufficiently that the resulting cards are fine. So, one of my 2 1400's is a color dye printer that also makes my B&W cards. Here are some delta-e numbers for comparable neutral patches. These are from http://www.aardenburg-imaging.com/ tests of Color Claria, BO Claria and Cone MPS. (I'm not sure if the columns will hold.)
