Dave, to be honest I probably should not have posted in such a grumpy mood.. needless to say these issues are effecting many these days.
I was not there, and heard the story after the fact. Lauren is probably not happy I relayed that story here. Anyway, anything I pass along would be 3 times removed, so probably inaccurate.
The gist of it, and a lot of this for me, is that increasingly in this era, simply having an audience of numbers seems to grant one some authority and gravitas, rather than knowledge, facts, experience, talent, commitment, etc etc..
If Mark Zuckerberg started a blog on 4th century Roman Galley design, his words would be considered gospel simply because of who he is, even if he proclaimed they made them from popsickel sticks.
A.D. Coleman (anyone heard of him these days???) writes on this humorously and at length on his blog..
0ne article we hosted here-
http://theagnosticprint.org/dinosaur-bones-by-a-d-coleman/
and others about his forum arguments with someone claiming knowledge has little value..
http://www.nearbycafe.com/artandphoto/photocritic/2012/01/03/forumization-and-its-malcontent-1/
there are 4 parts to that.
Even considering the possibility others may have more knowledge, experience, talent, whatever.. in fact may know more about what they are talking about than others.. these days.. you'll have the word elitist hurled at you.
I've been there.. here..
