my R1800's bad nozzle checks, revisted
2013-05-13 by Paul
Some members will recall I've brought this up before, but sad to say I'm still having bad nozzle checks. I'm taking a new approach, I'm questioning whether my cleaning fluid in the color position cartridge may be causing some damage... because the black position nozzle checks are ok. I've submitted this message to MIS as well: ................. I have an Epson R1800 and have dedicated it to b/w printing, using Eboni in the MK, PK, and GLOP positions and MIS Cleaning Fluid in the five color positions. I do that just to keep the color channels clean should I ever want to go back to color. I fill my own carts, using your refillable cartridges. Lately I've had bad nozzle checks for the color positions but the three nozzle checks for the black positions are fine. I've done some extensive head cleaning, using the underhead paper towel technique and also moistening the waste ink pad with cleaning fluid. However I continue to get bad nozzle checks for those five cartridges. Is it safe to leave the MIS Cleaning Fluid in those cartridges over a long time, or are they intended to remain in those carts temporarily, no more than just a few days? I was wondering if that fluid is too strong for long term use. I've been using the setup without any issue for about five years. Thank you! Paul .................... Does anyone have any idea what the MIS Cleaning Fluid consists of? Does it contain anything corrosive? Is anyone using this in their unused positions? Or is anyone using something else? Paul Roark has suggested I use a mixture of distilled water, glycerin, Photo-Flo and Edwal LFN, and he calls it C6b. I've mixed up a batch and am using it now, but no improvement yet. I hope I haven't caused any permanent damage with the MIS Fluid. Not to cloud the issue, but I have a second R1800. Let's called it R1800 #2. I bought it used but it shows very little use. I have the same setup in this one. Its nozzle checks are ok, they need some improvement but it's slowly getting better EXCEPT the cyan position is totally blank! Any ideas why this might be so? Thanks, Paul PS I may have posted this earlier. Moderator, please delete the earlier message if that is so.
