D-max comparison Cone's K7 (shade MK only) vs MIS Eboni Black?

No numbers I'm afraid although I find Eboni gives me a better Dmax. I have mixed them in printers without problems.

Check the Lab L minimum numbers in the summary of tests at the
Aardenburg Imaging site. You have to log in. All on PhotoRag and only
one with Eboni done then, they all are around L 15, some down to 13.8
and one up at 17. I guess other factors like the printer type and driver
have as much an influence.

Yes, I logged in and wish there was a paper to paper, ink to ink direct comparison. I'd like to see numbers on Photo Rag for both inks.

There is Mark. After log in, go to tests, search Ink contains MIS + "or"
Ink contains Cone + "and" Paper contains Photo Rag. You get about 10
results among them one MIS Eboni, the rest several Cone ink sets. Then
Look for the L minim far right in the data base.

Which reminds me of my project to print 6 or 8 black inks from different
brands on 500 papers to measure the Dmax of each combo. The Epson R200
and R220 are cleaned and are ready to work but so far I got not 1 ML of
ink sponsored from anyone; no company, no individual. The results will
be added to SpectrumViz. In the past it was not that difficult to get
sample sheets from companies for the spectral plots but inks seems to be
difficult. I do have an old bottle of Eboni but I fear the clogs. My HP
inks are ready and I expect that Epson inks will come but there are
Canon, Cone, MIS, OCP black inks that might not get their Dmax tested.

Oh,

You are the guy behind spectrumWiz?

I'd like to give you a big Thanks!!

I'm using it for finding papers that are similar to others, with huge
success..

:)

And you can also use the "collapse columns" feature in conjunction with the search/filter menu to reduce the extensive number of columns, then reintroduce only those columns of information that you want to view for any particular inquiry.

Thanks Ernst, for giving a nice example on using the search and filtering capabilities of the AaI&A light fade test results database. This search/filter engine is very Excel-like, and with a little practice one can use it to drill down into the database results for very targeted comparisons of results within the larger database. That said, I have the sense that few AaI&A members actually use this powerful feature of the AaI&A database.

kind regards,
Mark
