Plustek scanner scan lines problem and fix

Back in January I purchased a Plustek 8100 film scanner. At times it would display scan lines in the film scans. After doing some research, I suspected that the small switching power supply was sending interference to the scanner. This is very common for switching power supplies. My fix was to apply a snap-on toroid to the line running from the power supply to the scanner. I passed six turns of the line through the toroid before snapping it shut. This choked off the interference and I now have 100 percent clean scans. I thought I might pass this information along for others who may be having this problem. Snap-on toroids can be found at electronics shops. Radio shack used to carry them. I don’t knw whether or not they do anymore.
