I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH epson 3800

2015-12-07 by Rick Hawkins Java

The printer was last used say, 3 weeks ago and was sitting powered ON

i'm getting errors saying a problem with the maintenance tank (which has maybe 30 prints on it, genuine epson)

no maintenance cart

is the exact error

then after i mess with that it give me ink cart errors

then i mess with them and we're back to maintenance cart errors

i'm running inexpensive refillable carts with double chips on each cart (original epson chips under the cartridge chips)

what gives??

Rick, I have recently had the same problem with refillable carts. Either all carts flash "no carts" or the 3 on the left flash together. The trick to find out which one or two are not seated properly is to pop the cover open. Then use a folded piece of cardboard to push and jam the cover switch, at the left end of the printer, in, fooling the machine into thinking that the cover had been closed. This will cause only the problem cart to flash. You can then adjust it until the flashing stops. Then remove the cardboard and close the cover normally. This worked for me.

If the maintenance cart flashes, but you know it can't be filled, open the little cover door on the lower right of the front panel. Pull out the cartridge and then re-seat it and close the door. Hopefully this will help.

Rick --

I use the same type of cartridges for Piezography inks.

I've found that I often have to "adjust" the cartridges by pushing down (or up) on the top (or bottom) of each cartridge when they are installed for the printer to properly recognize them.
