Eboni Variable Tone Carbon on Canvas

Eboni Variable Tone Carbon on Canvas

For those interested in printing on canvas with Eboni inksets, this is where I'll be documenting my efforts with the Epson 9800 and the Eboni Variable Tone inkset:

I have, at least for the moment, been persuaded by my initial experiences that canvas is an outstanding, maybe the best, medium for large prints (not so smaller ones). I am currently printing to the standard 32 x 40 inch size. Foam core and other supplies (including Museum Glass for those who want it) are usually available pre-cut in this standard size.

As one might expect, I'm not following the standard dogma for canvas display. It's too early to say where I'll end up, but my first effort sold the first day in the gallery, so I take it I'm doing something right. I clearly have lots to learn about canvas.

I had previously made a (draft, always) PDF for the broader 9800 effort at

http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/9800-Eboni-Variable-Tone.pdf .

I am leaving most of the repetitive, general inkset information there.

FWIW,

Paul

Very cool, Paul.

I had a couple of 40x40” black-and-white canvasses made last fall for a client, who was very happy with them. There definitely is something painterly about photos on canvas, and I think the black-and-white factor adds interest. If I had room for a printer larger than my Epson 4800, I'd experiment with canvas at home; I agree with you that they look better at larger sizes.
