Stephen,

On the 1280 the "Good", "Better" and "Best" appear to be related to the
printers native 720, 1440 and 2880 dpi settings. I cannot see any difference
in the quality between "Better" and "Best" and the print time is
considerable longer on "Best". 20 to 25 minutes as I recall for an 8.5x11.

 With the 1160 it is probably a different matter with the three settings
possibly corresponding to 360, 720 and 1440 dpi which would make "Best" the
option to use. The only way to know it to try them yourself.
