Anyone? Among the pigmented inksets, MIS FS-N, MIS VM and MIS VM-sepia are the only ones I know of that can produce a neutral B&W print. (I have not used Lyson inks because they are dye-based and not as compatible with the color pigmented inks I use.) I see no significant metamerism in these MIS inksets. All of these MIS inksets can run on either the 1200 or 3000. The FS inkset uses the Piezo driver, but can be printed with the Epson driver and partitioning RGB curves on the 3000. The VM inksets use RGB curves that are available free. How close the images will come to dead neutral depends on the curve and paper. The pre-made "nc" (neutral cool) curves for the MIS VM inkset tend to be 4 units (of 256) cool. This is, in part, to offset the warming that all inksets experience. The FS-N is about 2 units cool and will warm much less that others. The VM-sepia, which shares the more stable FS-N gray inks, can be tuned to be virtually dead neutral -- which is what I have done for the 3000 and PC (the combination that I use). I hope this helps clarify the choices for you. The pros and cons of the Piezo v. Epson driver can be found by searching the archives of subject lines for a few days back. Paul http://www.PaulRoark.com
