Epson 7000 Head Damage Problem

Epson 7000 Head Damage Problem

2002-03-26 by mkravit

I post this with a a bit of hesitation as recently some of us have
been accused of taking sides for or against a certain product. But to
be honest I really don't care about that. These problems are causing
people to spend hard earned money so here goes.

I had the Epson Imation Tech in my office for teh past 2 days
aligning my Epson 10000. It has some banding with black ink only. He
needed to use hios computer to do the alignment as it was highly
critical.

He saw saw some of my 20x24 prints hanging in the office and asked me
about my how I was making them. I explained that I use MIS FS inks
with the 7000. He asked me where he could find info on the FS inks. I
asked why, he told me he has another customer in Central Florida in
the Orlando area who has been using the Piezo Inks. That this person
is running them on a 7000 and his printer heads.nozzles have become
so severely clogged with sludge that they must be replaced.

Deja Vu! I went through the exact same problem 6 months ago.

Folks, I will harp on this until the end of time if the maufacturers
do not change their ink formulae. There is suffucient evidence from
substantial sources that indicate the Piezo inks may be responsible
for these head problems. I had to replace the heads and dampers on my
7000 6 months ago after 6 months of Piezo Ink use. I was given every
reason in the book as to why my printers problem was not THEIR inks
fault.

In 6 months of using the MIS FS inks, I have no sludge and no clogs.

My point, let the buyer beware. I hope this saves someone else from
paying hard earned dollars to repair their printer. If you don't
agree, fine, just don't kill the messenger.

Mike
