Digital BW, The Print

Hi guys :)

I do apologize for all my newbie questions. 

By now I'm having pretty good luck with my VM ink prints, at least
with the neutral curves (the warm curves seem to posterize a lot for
me, dunno why) My midtones are great, my shadows are pretty good, but
my blacks are still a problem - they're rich and deep now, but instead
of fading naturally and smoothly into my deep greys, they dither and
pop, with slight posterization. Prints look great from a distance, but
up close the dither is very noticable in the blacks, where it really
looks like continuous tone everywhere else.

Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? Suggestions?
