Digital BW, The Print

Hi all,
 
I know this topic is quite obsolete, but I'll be moving in a few months and
just don't want to set up a CIS until I'm in the new house. So, for the time
being, I'll stick to cartridges (I'm on a 1160, if it may matter).
My politics so far have been to only use virgin cartridges in order to avoid
the residual foam problem: I never experienced a clog and I don't want to
start now. 
My question is: is it worthwile to spend about 15 extra bucks each time and
be sure everything will be fine, or can I just trust the residual foam
procedure on the MIS site to get a used cartridge as good as new?
