As long as you adjust the *Canvas Size* and not the
*Image Size* there will be no distortion. Go to
Image>Canvas Size and add the appropriate amount of
space to your canvas. Set your anchor point opposite
the side you wish to add space.
If you are working on a flattened PhotoShop file,
make sure your background color is set to white.
Just make sure not to make your canvas size larger
than what your printer can print. You could end up
clipping part of your image if you do this.
