Polaroid 4000 Plus 35mm scanner

2002-04-27 by Jerry Olson

Hi Group,

If you are currently using the Polaroid 4000 Plus 35mm Scanner, would you please contact me off list? I must get a new scanner, as a client
has many images that I must get really good shadow detail out of, and the Canon 2710 FS scanner, while an excellent machine for the price,
does not get great shadow detail from Velvia!

I am trying to get my PiezoBW working with PS7. The only check box I can
see under preferences/plugins is for locating additional plugins. It does
not say it is for legacy PS6 ones. I started PS 7 in OS 9.2.2 but the
PiezoBW export is no longer on the export menu.

Does anyone know how I can get to it or enable it under PS7.

Thanks.

Simon

Simon,

First of all to use PS7 in classic mode...with the application closed, click
once on its icon then go to file>show info. Click the "Open in Classic"
box. Then copy the piezo software folder into the plugins>import/export
folder into the PS7 folder. Fire up the program and everything should load
just fine.

Re: [Digital BW] PS7, Piezo and the Mac

Robert

I have set PS 7 to start in classic mode. When I try to start it it goes
through loading everything while the splash screen is visible and then says
that Photoshop 7 has terminated with an error. It just wont start into
classic mode. I have copied the Piezography folder into PS7 but PiezoBW
still does not appear under the file/export menu.

Can you help?

Thanks.

I'm not Robert but I'll try to help. When running Photoshop in
Classic assign no more than 299 megs to the program. Also
make sure Classic is running before you launch Photoshop.

PS 6 used to crash always while starting in the classic mode until I installed a
second version of PS under OS X and reduced the assigned RAM below 300.
But now it is much-much slower that PS 6 running under 9.2.
I really do not love OS X a lot, in general I find it slower than 9.2.
The only reason I use it is: easy communicating with my PC without third party
software.

When John says run photoshop in classic...he means boot in 9.2.2 and then
reassign memory to less than 300 meg...I used to have this problem with PS6
while "running in classic" under OSX. If you check the memory setting while
running in Classic in will be set to something really low (e.g., 512K).
This is ok. They key is making sure that you don't set it high when running
in 9.2.2, otherwise it won't run correctly when you are in classic.

First you need to copy the plugin to the PS7 plugins folder, under
import/export. Then you need to set PS7 (in the info window for the app) to
"launch as classic application" if you are using OS X... then it should work
as expected.
