Hey guys, I was wondering if any one has had any trouble with hooking up their printers (1280 and a 820 to be exact) to a USB hub instead of right to the box? I don't have the available USB ports so I could either get a card or a hub, just seeing if anyone has any experiences with this, thanks people. Jim P

Jim I use a hub with 4 printers attached --- no problems.......... just make sure that the hub you get is AC powered. You should be ok. I run on Win 2000 with 2 Epson 880's - 1 Epson 1270 - 1 Canon S9000 Don

I'm not using those exact printers; but I have both an Epson 1200 and
an Epson 1160 hooked up, both through hubs, to my Windows box, and
they both work. I can even drive both at once. So I'd conclude that
the idea isn't hopeless, anyway.

There is/was some problem with the combination of W2000/Via chipset & driver/Epson drivers. I never sorted my problems trying to use a hub, so have my printers plugged directly to the mainboard. All drivers have since been upgraded, so even with that combination you may have no problems now. I had problems massively with the usb hub in Win ME, but under win 2000 none at all. I run a 2000P, 1280 & 785 epx all under a single powered USB hub made by belkin. Frank Francis James Mares Photography [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

I don't know if you're on a Mac or a PC, but I use a Mac (G4) and have two printers connected via a USB hub. No problems at all!

I have a USB hub for the 1280 cable. Works perfectly. Jerry corneliousmetemusil wrote:

WOW, thank you so much for the great info people, boy I didn't expect to get that many responses. It seems most people were happy with the Belkin so that's what I went with, seems to work so far, thank you again, happy printing! Jim P
