Digital BW, The Print

Hi All,

Has anybody had problems feeding BC Eclipse Satine paper in their 1160
printer?  My 18 month old refurb unit has up until now been working
flawlessly but then again I'm only feeding EAM letter size through it.

I was trying to finish up printing my 15 prints for the May exchange
and wanted to use the BC paper. Oh well, I guess I'll have to settle
on the EAM this month.

A little off topic: What profile works best with the BC using the
piezo 6.0 plug-in?

Ecilipse Satine is avaiable in different thicknesses. Which do you 
use? Even the  thinnest 190gm/m2 is much thicker than normal paper- I 
calipered it out to around 0.014-0.015 inch. That would put it at 
about 1.5 times EAM paper. When paper reaches 0.015 thick, I put the 
lever at the "+" position. I never used this paper on an 1160, but on 
my 1280 I should state, just for the record.

After re-alignment with lever on "+", I haven't had many paper feed 
problems. You could try the other time-tested trick not mentioned yet- 
cut a piece of fome-core either 1/8 inch or 1/4 inch to the paper 
width (for 13 x 19 paper I used at one time a 13 x 20 piece) and 
insert this in the feeder tray first. Then put one sheet on top and 
the foam-core will guide it in. If you use Gator-foam you will have to 
deal with stuff flaking off the edges and getting in printer. As it 
is, check the foam-core for ragged edges before using it.

I also find that on the large 13 x 19 size I have to leave a little 
more gap when adjusting the paper tray left guide and I center the 
paper in this gap,left to right. This way, the paper doesn't ride into 
the edge of sheet feeder either side and get caught as the long length 
goes through. I once had a misfeed occur midprint because of this with 
Ecipse paper. I don't know if the paper is not quite square or the 
feed is not parallel.
