Clyde,

A glass carrier for the Polaroid 120! Great news indeed. Thanks for letting
us know.

Do you have the web address or phone number you ordered from?

Thanks,
Martin Wesley

Thanks for the alert Cleavis. This did happen to my SS120 back in September
and I did have to send it to Polaroid. They promptly sent me a replacement
unit which had the 1.20 version of the firmware loaded. If you own a 120 and
haven't done this upgrade yet, do it ASAP.

I followed up on the glass carrier with polaroid for the SprintScan
120 and got the email reply w/in 24hours that followed.

Subject - is there a glass carrier for the sprintscan 120?

Discussion Thread Response (TOM TREMBLAY) 05/29/2002 08:13 AM

Yes. The product ID is 122238 and it can be purchased through
Polaroid Order Services by calling (800) 343-5000 (option 2, 2). Use
of the glass holder requires firmware version 1.33 or greater and
PolaColor Insight v5.5.1 or greater. The firmware update will be
available on our web site shortly
(http://www.polaroid.com/service/software/sprintscan/ss120.html).

<I had seen one e-tailer mark the P.SS.120 as discontinued but seems
that was in error per the following>

I'm not sure what you're referring to, but neither the SprintScan 120
nor the glass holder have been discontinued.

Thank you John, Simon & Clyde for responding to my inquiries. It got
it going in a more interesting, useful direction. Looking forward
to the 'user review' Clyde :-)

Sincerely,
Cleavis

Great update; I was just wondering how to order the glass carrier...

And the firmware 1.33 update and Insight v 5.5.1 are on the Polaroid Web
site now. Just downloaded them this evening. Will be installing tomorrow
evening.

Bill,

You are right that question was not raised, although I would certainly hope
they used AN glass.

Another issue is Silverfast and Vuescan. Polaroid says not to use the 1.33
firmware update unless you upgrade to Insight 5.5.1. I don't think very many
people are using their software. Silverfast and Vuescan are much more
popular so there is the question of whether these two programs will work
with the new firmware and glass carrier.

FYI... I sent an e-mail to Lasersoft asking about support for the glass
carrier and the person who responded to me is going to look into it. I'll
keep you posted.

Also, I installed the 1.33 firmware update and the most recent version of
SilverFast 5.5 Ai for Photoshop and everything still works. So at least the
new firmware doesn't seem to cause a problem with SilverFast.
