Prints for Gallery

It's been discussed if digital prints will be ok for gallery. Here's an interesting fact I just heard: I live in Brazil, and there's a famous laboratorist here, called Csar Barreto, who is considered the best in making BW wet prints in this country. The best photographers here have used his services to print exhibits that have been in many museums all over the world, including the MoMa,George Pompidur,etc... Well,he happens to be a friend of a fellow photographer of mine. And he told him that he is from now on just working with digital processes (still from the original film of course),and has retired his wet lab. This friend of mine didnt know exactly how he is printing, but he talked with Barreto abou this quad ink process he knows I'm using, and Barreto told him he knows about it and consider it to be of excelent quality. It caused the same impact in our class (it's a post-graduate course on Photography and Anthropology) as it would have caused in USA or Europe if Ansel Adams had said so. And made many one who were very sceptical about it (well, many actually used to laugh about it),to ask me to make a bunch of test prints,so they could see what is it about anyway. As time goes by,I really have the impression it's the way to go... Andr
