I'm glad to hear things went smoothly for you.

For starters on scanning, even though it is not B&W specific, check out:

http://www.scantips.com/

Also check some of the workflows in the Files section where people from this
list describe some of their scanning techniques. If you have questions in
this area feel free to ask on this list. Scanning is a very critical part of
making a good B&W print from a digital file.

One of the best books, is Fraser's Real World PS. A great resource that
always seems to have what I need.

Amazon.com now says 8/15. But 7/15 for Real World Color Management, 
which I guess would shorten the route through RWPS.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
