Which A3 printer: 1270/1280, Canon S9000, or new Epson 2200?

I've been using an Epson 870 printer with MIS VM inks and have been satisfied with it. But I'm getting the itch to be able to print larger format pictures. It sounds like the only serious options for me are an Epson 1270 (refurb) or 1280, the Canon S9000, and the soon to be released Epson 2200. I'm trying to decide between them. I expect that the printer will be dedicated to black and white printing. Even if the new 2200 turns out to be amazing, it still seems to me like a 1270/1280 with continous flow ink will be the the best solution. A new 1280 with continous flow system would probably turn out to cost almost as much as the Epson 2200 (which will retail for $699 and be available for a bit less). The 2200 may turn out to make prints as good as the 1280 -- and may have inks that are a little more archival (not a huge concern for me yet) -- but the ink costs for the 2200 will be almost an order of magnitude greater than the cost of the MIS VM inks. The only reason I can see to choose the 2200 would be if I wanted b/w and color from the same printer. The S9000 also apparently has prints as good as or better than those from the 1270/1280, and it's supposed to be much faster, too. But there are no 3rd party quad/hex inksets available for it yet, and I wonder whether there ever will be. The non-chipped cartridges are a small plus, but if I'm moving to a continuous flow system with the 1270/80 then that pretty much takes the chipped cartridge problem out of the equation. I'm just curious what opinions you all have regarding which printer to get for b/w printing. Has anybody used MIS ink successfully in a Canon S9000. Are there reasons why you can or cannot use MIS inks, other than needing to have paper profiled properly? Is there likely to be any advantage at all to Epson 2200 over 1270/80, if all I want to do is print b/w? Oh, one last question, I guess: the only advantages I can see to 1280 over 1270 are borderless printing and 2880x720 instead of 1440x720. Are either of those worth paying for? Thanks for any advice. -- Herb
