Piezo inks versus MIS Quadtones

Piezo inks versus MIS Quadtones

2001-08-30 by gmphotos@earthlink.net

I am trying to decide between Piezo inks or MIS Quadtone inks
for my Epson 3000. As these cartridges are large, and
expensive, I was wondering if anyone has some thoughts on
which of these two inksets I should go with. The Piezos run
about $260 for the set. With the MIS's I can get preloaded
cartridges for about $180, and a lot less if I go the 'fill your own'
route. Are people seeing a real difference between these. I will
probably be using the Piezo driver. I seem to be getting sharper
results on my test images with the Piezo driver over Woolf's
curves and workflow. Thanks for any recommendations,
suggestions, etc. Also, any paper recommendations would be
great since I'm looking at investing a few hundred dollars in a
supply and I am having trouble choosing one.

Hi,

Didn't see your name in your post. You might want to check out "Your
Name in Posts" file in the "Files" section in the "List Related"
folder.

According to the MIS website you can use the MIS Full Spectrum ink as
a replacement for the Piezo inks. Some people are trying this with
other prints and I see no reason they wouldn't work as well in the
3000. For the 3000 the Piezo driver seems to be the best bet.

If you give the MIS inks a try, let us know how it works out.
