2200 B&W output

A friend has a 2200 set up and running and he printed one of my images for me. He has the photo black cartridge in and printed B&W images on Archival mat. One straight black which is a sepia, very definitely sepia but nice, one with color inks that really changes colors from one light to another and has a plum color under incandescent light but not bad outside, and one with 5% green mask that takes out some of the plum color. The last two also take on a split toned look. They were all printed at 1440 dpi. They are all smooth and compared to a piezotone WN tonalities look pretty good, maybe just a tad less contrast in some areas but the photo black ink isn't optimized for the archival mat as I understand it. But very smooth, bandless and dotless to the eye. Does anyone who has the printer made a comparison between the Archival mat with photo black vs. photo mat....are both sepia? I was hoping that when he brought me the prints, I could say without question that I don't need this printer BUT I do need a printer for color and after seeing what he turned out in using it for the first few hours, I can't eliminate the 2200. Who is putting money on when we will have someone crack the code and set it up with new inks. Billie [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
