Epson 1160 now what?

Epson 1160 now what?

2002-08-18 by Kevin

Ok so I've ordered a brand new epson 1160 that will arrive on my doorstep in
a few days, and im waiting for the CFS with MIS FS-N to arrive within a
week, what should I do with the original ink cartridges? should I open them
up and use them to see if the printheads are fine(and perhaps print some
colour) or should I forget about them completely and just wait patiently for
my CFS so that I dont have to clean the printheads?

I would use them to be sure the printer works allright first. If you
have a problem with the printer you can send it back with the
original inks and no questions asked

Vinny,
As already sugggested, I would use the Epson carts first. Remember
though that when you take them out to install the CFS that they will
need to be sealed because unlike the later carts they will not seal
upon removal. I suggest that you go to MIS and look for
their "Rivets" You probally can obtain these at your local hardware
store. It's also worth checking to see if these come as part of the
CFS kit.

Regards

Barry

Definitely install the Epson carts first to make sure the printer works. I
bought a 1280 earlier this year that had to go back because it didn't work.
I just got a 1280 (again -- second try) last week and put the Epson carts
in to make sure it works. Then I pulled them out and put in MIS FS carts,
ran a few cleaning cycles and purge prints, and then made 10 b/w prints
without a hitch.

Kevin, where did you get the 1160 and how much did you pay? (if you don't
mind my asking)

Also, I would definitely install the Epson carts, run some nozzle checks,
print several pages of solid blocks of CMYK, some 21 step wedges, then more
nozzle checks; basically put the printer through its paces. Then you'll
know for sure if there's a printer/head problem before installing the CFS.
IMHO, it's worth knowing that.
