Stephen,
How right you are...
And the plot thickens.
I have spent a lot of the day testing the 7600 monochrome output from
ImagePrint 5. Initially I had probelms, but it turned out that I was
using the wrong profile. In fact, I could not find a profile for B&W
+ matte ink output on to Photo Rag, so I used another profile instead.
In any event, I am getting piezo quality prints from the 7600 - no
crossovers - with the wrong profile :-) I know that is how it is
supposed to be, ut it still came as a surprise actually to see it
happen.
Only slight problem is that I can't get the tint picker to work
properly at the moment. HopefullyI can get that sorted shortly.
Given the microbanding I have experienced with the 7000 since
changing that printer over to PiezoTones, and the hassle of getting
good output from it with ImagePrint (almost certainly another profile
problem), I am leaning towards using just the 7600 with ImagePrint
for B&W and colour. It is too early to jump that way at the moment,
but the B&W quality seems to be there in bucketloads. "dead nuts" I
think Andrew Rodney called it :-)
No wonder Inkjetmall are selling ImagePrint.

7000. I am working on a pc, calibrated monitor, but feel like I have
a moving target. John has suggested that one of the inks may have
been loaded wrong, so as the system switches from cyan to light cyan
on different images, the results may vary. I will let you know what I
find.

blame him. I saw those images, and they were great, but they should
last more than 2 months. It would be pretty wierd if after all our
work, Epson ends up with the best BW set!!!!
