Hi All, Is there anyone using the Epson 2200 or the 2100 for B/W yet? If so what is your opinion? Does the Grey Balance adjsutment affect the normal color printing? Practical answers only please. Barry

Barry: You must have missed the outstanding series of 1,357 messages (and Andrew's 892 replies) re: the decision by Epson to not include the gray balancer with the 2200. Only non US citizens get that one. I will be printing rgb and gs with my 2200 when it arrives on Friday (hopefully) and will report at length about it and IP5. More later. S. Barry, I've only used it with EAM/Matte black and set the driver to No color adjustment. Apparently, that's a big mistake for BW. Needs to be set to Photo Realistic. More info on luminous landscape and dpreview (for links and discussion see recent messages in the archivalcolor list). Expect one set of settings for color and another for bw printing (where gamut limiting by the driver is a plus). The only caveat from preliminary tests is that favorite papers like PhotoRag only hit 1.63 dmax and other art papers like Museo showed a lot of surface sheen where deep blacks hit. EAM is still 1.73 - as we know. Antonis And, BTW, if your French is good, it's easy to download the Gray Balancer from Epson France. Worth a look. I haven't tested it yet. --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@y..., "flyfishingusa2002" <tflyfish@c...> wrote:

You can download the French version of the gray balancer, as well as a patch to convert it to English. I believe the URL for a page explaining how to do both is at www.forst.net/2200. - David = = = Original message = = = Barry: You must have missed the outstanding series of 1,357 messages (and Andrew's 892 replies) re: the decision by Epson to not include the gray balancer with the 2200. The Gray Balancer can be downloaded from Epson France and the English explaination is on photo i in the UK. Sorry I don't have either link on this computer. Adjusting the Gray Balancer for improved b/w printing is supposed to be condusive to better color printing also. The best b/w workflow seems to be on http://www.luminous-landscape.com Check recent archives on this list for lots of details and links. And there is a whole group dedicated to the 2200 and 2000P right here in Yahoo. My viewing of 2200 b/w suggests that third party systems like Cone's are still a tad better, but the 2200's b/w looks very good.
