Truman,

I don't have this scanner myself, but from this I'd guess that you want
the 6 pin:

I have a 2450 and use a 6 pin to 4 pin [kind of a square] connector. Should
be reference to this in the manual.

Ooops. Should have confirmed before I sent this. It is a 6 pin to 6 pin.
Confusing it with something else I guess.

Luke,

You would think so but in typical Epson fashion they don't confuse you with
minor details like that.<G> Can't find a thing in the manual or set-up
sheet.

Truman,

Mine is 6 to 6. Here are the specs buried in the Epson site:

http://files.support.epson.com/pdf/per245/per245pg.pdf

Check the Sony end too.

Try Granite Digital for cables. They have some very high quality cables at
great prices. http://www.scsipro.com/catalog/pg18_firewirecables.htm

The Firewire port on my Epson 2450 is 6p. I don't know your iLink interface specs but my computer's Firewire interface card is 6p also. So I use 6p to 6p cable for my configuration.

6p looks like:

4p looks like:

I-link is 4 pin. so you need a 4-4 IEEE 1394 cable. 4 pin cables do
not carry their own power like 6 pin cables so you will have to have
the power supply for your scanner plugged in.

Ok before I get flamed (had to look up specs)...I-link is 4 pin. so
you need 4 pin (from computer) to 6 pin (scanner) you still need the
power supply since 4 pin cannot carry power.

Nope, you can't plug 4p cable into Epson 2450. If iLink interface card is
the case (read as 4p port) then you want a 4p - 6p cable. In my case; as
both the scanner and PC have 6p ports, I used a 6p - 6p cable.

Loris.
