2200: bw on Epson Watercolor?

Has anyone tried this successfully? BW prints on Epson Watercolor Radiant White with the 2200 set to the Watercolor settings (media and profiles) it comes with. Initial tests with Matte Black show that the recommended Photo Realistic setting, besides producing an ugly grayscale, limits dmax to 1.40. To get to a respectable 1.66 dmax, the driver needs to be set to no adjustment. Then, of course, everything turns black at 90%. A glimer of hope (!) appears with Photo Enhance4 > Tone > Monochromatic. This produces a 1.62 dmax, the 95% patch is visible, but a vast midtone region goes flat and cool. Plus there is a sudden break at 85% where shadows begin. The good news: almost no "glazing" with this paper.... Ideas? Antonis
