Hi to all, Could it be my imagination that, when I check ink levels using the Epson utility for my 1280, the ink levels appear to get lower? That sort of thing is not supposed to happen with a CFS/CIS. Any comments, or do I need a little rest? Many TIA, Jeffrey

Jeffrey: You probably are not halucinating from lack of sleep. With the original CIS from NoMoreCarts (Niagra), you have to turn the printer off and back on to reset the chip. With the MIS CFS, you need to manually reset the chip. Jeff Randall --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@y..., "thronxx" <happy.eyeball@v...> wrote:

The CIS uses read only chips that always read full, with a little printer of/on tweaking. The CFS requires the f-16 chip resetter from MIS. Or you could use an old Russian buggy DOS app that works in Win98 with a parralell port ONLY that is cheaper, both available from MIS. Oops, That's what happens when you selectively read instructions. Got it. Chip resetter. Works fine. My assumption was that levels always read full. I guess the purpose of the chip is to indicate a new/full cart, not to indicate levels. The printer does that.
