frustrations printing on a 980...

Am using the 980, with Epson archival matte paper. Have been messing around with this printer for several months now, and prior to converting to quad-black inks shortly, am trying to get sepia, bronze, and other warm-toned prints out of this printer, using the color inks. It prints excellent full-color prints, but when attempting to make sepia-toned, or bronze, or using any of the Duotones, Tritones, or Quadtones presets in PS6, it falls flat...the tones look horrible....mostly with a green or blue cast, or the tone is very exaggerated and unacceptable. The only decent prints I've attained, (which are nearly acceptable but not resembling the presets), are printing with the "photo- enhance, sepia" options selected in the Epson Advanced setting prior to the print. (btw, the heads are clear, and the printer otherwise works great as mentioned, in full color.) (negatives 35mm color film scanned at 2720 using Canoscan FS2710...output/print resolution at 300) I'm sure I must be doing something simply wrong in some setting somewhere, or I'm skipping a step prior to the output, but now I'm wondering if this is a specific 980-model issue...I doubt it, but I feel I've tried/researched/experimented with everything to this point. Anyone else who owns a 980 run into this, or could point to a known 980 workflow using color inks? Thanks..! Regards, mark r.
