Overspray ink problem oin 1160

I am having an overspray problem on my old 1160 printer, that is a fine mist of black ink is being deposited outside the print area. I remember someone else had this problem years ago, and was wondering if it can be fixed, or if that is the beginning of the end for this printer? Printer is about 3 1/2 years old and has had thousands of prints through it. Jerry
