RE: [Digital BW] CFS for Epson 2100/2200?
2002-11-14 by Andrew Biggs
Glenn- I am pasting a message from the Epson2000P yahoo group below. I hope this helps. -Andy Yes, I spoke w/Norm too... for all I know you were there next to me. ;) I found the CIS very interesting, though they don't really want to sell it w/o their preinstalled ink -- seems it is a bit of a tech support problem to help customers to install their own inks. If someone were to ask Norm, it might be possible for someone who knows how to fill the CIS to get an empty system. It will be interesting to see how the new (G6? Not sure on naming) inks perform on glossy/luster papers when they are released. The G5 inks still rub off. Also, the chip resetter he showed (works even on the new Epson 960 cartridges) will surely interest those who want to simply refill existing carts. (As usual, the CIS chips will always read full.) I've also been told that www.nomorecarts.com <outbind://2/www.nomorecarts.com> (the manufacturers of the original Niagara, but not MediaStreet's Niagara II CIS) plan to come out with their own 2200 CIS. I wasn't given a definite date on that, though. I would like to know what the differences between the two systems will be. This one may be easier to use with the ink from Epson 7600 or 9600 carts, though. - Andy

Forgive my ignorance on this topic but I'm having trouble concentrating long enough to figure it out... Does anyone know if a CFS, from MIS or anyone else, is being developed for the 2100/2200? Would using a mixture of the existing MIS inks work or would new ones be needed? -- Glenn Please visit the Group Homepage to check the Files, Bookmarks, Polls and other resources as they are often being updated.
