Is it just me?

After some wonderful results out of an Epson 1200 with the MIS Hextone (corey workflow) ink set I decided to go for a large format printer. Since I could buy a used 9000 for the cost of a new 7000 I went for it. After reading the glowing reviews (on this list) of the variable tone inkset I decided to go for that set, thinking it wasn't far off from what I had been using. I made the assumption (maybe wrong) that the curves available on the MIS site for the 1200 series 6 color printers would work okay or at least get me in the ballpark (after all, they do sell 9000 cartridges filled with that ink set). Boy was I wrong. The prints I'm getting look like hell with intensely blue shadows. All of the curves yielded similar results. The control of the blue toner is way out of wack. I double and triple checked my settings and even ran a color patch test to confirm that I had the inks in the right positions. Even tried running the curves meant for the four color printers. Any ideas? Paul, are you out there? Is the 9000 driver really that much different from the 1200s that the curves wouldn't at least be close? Any help would be appreciated. -- Don Gray Image House Santa Fe, New Mexico 505-986-0333 don489@...
