Digital BW, The Print

Hello,

My name is Warren Denning and I've been reading the daily digest for
a number of months and would like to thank all of you for the wealth
of information presented here by the members. It has been very
helpful.

I have been printing B&W with a 1280 and an 1160 using MIS FS inks
with Nomorecarts CIS systems and Piezo software and have been mostly 
happy with the results. I want the capability to print larger prints 
and would like to purchase a 7600, but am concerned about metamerism
issues and 7600 B&W print quality in general. I am currently printing 
on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag and will continue to print on it or a similar 
paper. I spoke with Color Byte this morning about ImagePrint 5.The 
initial cost of $1495 plus $495 for yearly maintenance and updates is 
more than I would like to spend... although I would do so if it is 
necessary for print quality. I recently read a post by Mark Tucker 
regarding the use of a "tweaked" Atkinson profile with Epson Somerset 
505 paper. This interests me greatly as it would eliminate the cost
of ImagePrint. How is the tweaking accomplished?

I have priced the printers and have been quoted $2795 delivered. This 
seems like a good deal.

I would appreciate any info and recommendations or caveats from 7600/
9600 users.
