Printer stopped printing

2002-12-17 by Chris Hargens <ldmr@cruzio.com>

I had my 1160 with CFS in storage for about 3 months. Good news is
that I got a good nozzle check after only 4 cleanings. The bad news
is that for no apparent reason my printer is beginning to stop
printing midprint. This problem did not occur immediately, but rather
the second day after I began to use the printer. The message I'm
getting is that there may be an obstacle obstructing the printer --
but I haven't found anything. Also, the connection between printer
and computer seems to be working. Anyone ever experience a similar
problem and, hopefully, found a solution.

You got to make sure the tube assembly has enough slack on both the left
and right of the printer. Your problem indicates that it hits something
or runs out of tubing. There is not a lot of leeway either way, so
check to see what happens and why.

Thanks. I'll check that once I get home.

Chris, I had the same things happen with my 1160 about 3-4 weeks back. I'll
copy the following section from the person who gave me the right advice
(I'ts still running, thanks again Phil!)...

I went through a bout of this, too. It's almost certainly the silver rod
that the heads run on. Epson tech reports this as a common problem. I've
been using a tiny dab of vaseline with great success. Easy to apply and
lasts a long time.
