The 2200 & the Black ink swap out

The 2200 & the Black ink swap out

2003-01-05 by Jon Adams

Hello All -

This is a 2 parter

It had always been suggested to me that once you
remove an ink cartridge from a printer you can not put
it back. So here I have an Epson 2200 and both the
Matte black and Photo black carts. If I pull the Photo
black from the printer to use the Matte black for a
few prints, can I then return the Photo black
afterward? If so, are there problems I should
anticipate?

Also, as I have not yet tried to use the Matte
black cart; in the "media type" pull down in the print
dialogue box, of the 7 paper options only 3 are
selectable. Will the other paper options become active
once I insert the Matte black cartridge? Or is there
something else I'm overlooking?

   Thank you for your attention,

Jon Adams

You can switch between the Photo black and Matte black carts at will -
just keep the used cart in a ziplock bag or the original wrapping. The
carts are self sealing.

Yes, the appropriate media choices are keyed to the type of black cart
installed. If you are using a Mac with OS X it is necessary to first
delete the Epson (USB) driver from the print center and then add it
back after switching carts.
