Legion PM v. EAM fade comparison

In the files section of the forum, at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint/files/ in the "Message Related Files" you can see a comparison of Epson Archival Matte and Legion Photo Matte, printed with MIS VM inks, neutral-cool curve, after 300 hours in the fader. I note a few numbers below, but the visual impression is probably the most important. Basically, the Legion PM did well. It's really the first paper I've tested that can, for the most part, hold it's own against EAM, and actually beat it in some respects. (I'm finishing the Museo test now. It is also doing rather well.) At the 50% patch the Legion actually faded and warm-shifted less than EAM. However, in the dark tones EAM won the fading race. If one looks at the full midtones, 20% - 80%, the two papers warm-shifted the same amount. At 100 hours and 200 hours, the Legion had warm-shifted less than EAM in these midtones. The Legion bluish paper did yellow somewhat more than EAM. I think I would want to matte up to the image with it to hide the differences in paper white that might show up if old prints are placed next to new ones. Paul http://www.PaulRoark.com
