How are you doing with the MIS? The last we heard from you things
were not going so well and you thought you might have received the
wrong ink for the black position. Any success in sorting things out?

As of a week ago, I solved my weak black problem, MIS inks on the 7000, With
Tylers help! We started with making new curves! I installed MIS Full
Spectrum Black And at this point I'm satisfied with the black. Previously I
had the VM Hex black installed. It is unknown if the VM black was mislabeled
But the Full spectrum black measures almost a 5% increase in density. This is
still a little shy of the Piezo black from my 3000 but very close. I have not
seen any better output than a good 3000 Piezo system can produce, including
the 7000.
Now I'm just making a variety of prints to evaluate the overall tone of the
MIS inks in comparison to Piezo. The tone of MIS standard vs. piezo is quite
different, I am printing on Royal Plush. Jazz and Sumerset E. I've started a
window test with MIS and Piezo prints side by side in hopes that that will
help me decided if I want to bother with these inks. I am a happy Piezo user
and this whole exploration Back to MIS has been stressful, I used MIS Quads
inks in 1999. As far as output! Piezo is my choice. I've looked at prints
with a loupe for many hours (something I don't usually do). Without any
scientific evidence, My opinion is that that Piezo inks and software are the
higher quality inks and software.
I do like the MIS inks on Sumerset E but find the tone On Jazz and Plush kind
of an odd neutral. I'am going to wait another month or so and see what kind
of tone shifting I get With these MIS inks. I am getting nice prints from my
7000 now which is a lot more fun than testing. I have a thing for big
prints, so I'am playing with Scanner printer limits at this point. as far as
size.

Steve,

Glad to hear you got that end of it sorted out.

A number of people have mentioned that 3000 is still the champ in
terms of the amount of ink that it can lay down compared to the newer
printers including the 7000 and 9000. Do you think this is a factor?

In comparing the Piezo and MIS print quality, does print size
contribute? Is there a bigger quality difference in large prints
compared to small prints?

You've got that right!!

Please keep us posted on how it all goes.
