Output or Col Management in PS7 print w. preview?

Output or Col Management in PS7 print w. preview?

2003-01-22 by frankg_photo <fh.gross@sympatico.ca>

I recently upgraded from Photoshop 6 to 7 and am still trying to get
used to the change in the Print dialog (File> Print with Preview)

When you check the box for Show more Options you have a choice
between Output or Col Management. The latter providing the Document &
Source spaces that I also had selected under PS6. Namely Adobe RGB
(1998) & Same as Source respectively.

Is this what y'all are using too ?

thanks
frank

It's actually not a choice between, but two separate sections, both of
which are active. The purpose of both sections is for influencing
the image on the way to the printer, but in different ways. The
Output section, among other things, has a place to apply a custom
"transfer" curve. The Color Management section allows applying a
canned profile ("back end") to offset the one that is assigned to the
image ("front end"). It is too complex to explain here, but on my web
site (see link below) is an article that goes into some detail about
these and how to use them. Look for article #4 "Using Color Settings
And Profiles".

Clayton

Thank you Clayton - a good amount to read and digest there :-)
