It's actually not a choice between, but two separate sections, both of
which are active. The purpose of both sections is for influencing
the image on the way to the printer, but in different ways. The
Output section, among other things, has a place to apply a custom
"transfer" curve. The Color Management section allows applying a
canned profile ("back end") to offset the one that is assigned to the
image ("front end"). It is too complex to explain here, but on my web
site (see link below) is an article that goes into some detail about
these and how to use them. Look for article #4 "Using Color Settings
And Profiles".
