To all the nice people at the Nikon scan software development department:

We respect your decision to include the clipping of shadows in negative
scanning.
We think you could keep that feature as a default setting in negative
scanning.
We would like to see a choice added that would make it possible to scan
without that clipping of shadows in negative scanning.

Epson 3200 scanner

Anyone using the Epson 3200 for large format, 4x5? Epson doesn't list
a film carrier for the 4x5 and I am wondering if there might be a
problem with Newton Rings. That is a problem with my present scanner
and I don't want to buy another with the same problem

I have the 3200, and there is a 4x5 carrier included. You will only get
newton rings if the negative touches the glass, so you'll want to make
sure the bend of the negative is pointing upwards to avoid that.

People have also reported improved results with Kami mounting fluid.

I saw a link to a german company that sells improved film carriers in
the link section of the 3200 group:

Dan thanks for the info. Epson's spec doesn't mention any film holder
for the 4x5, only 35mm and 2-1/4.

Thanks Again
