future of photgraphy

2003-03-13 by Ken Carney

I watched the sci-fi film "Minority Report" last night, and noticed the
photographer (in the year 2054) was using a wet darkroom, clothes line with
plastic clips, Patterson trays, etc. (b&w fine art prints). Maybe they
never solved the clogging.

Hi Jason,

Very happy. I have faith I'll be able to buy film until the day I die, or
until I make a 6k x 6k 6x6 monochrome back for my Hasselblad that's self
contained and has an ISO from 25 to 1600.

Or, is it that you expect me to live until 2054? I'd be 96 ;-)

Regards,

Austin

We're arranging for you and Jerry to be in side-by-side cryo-freezers.

I've made a recording for Jerry to "listen" to while in cryogenic
suspension. It'll keep him just as 'sharp' as ever ;-) Me, I just want to
listen to Frank Zappa.

Aaaahhhhh. It was the inevitable longing for the "warm and glow" of the
"old" techniques! The longing for dust and Spotone marks on the print.
Something to show it was touched by a human.

No thanks, I prefer Yanni or John Tesh.

I like Yanni (quite a bit I might add), but John Tesh? No thanks. If I
want to listen to dentist music, I'll go to the dentist ;-)

Question for those in the know...

IF your ink has evaporated just a little bit from their bottles, say 5-6
percent or so, Could the result be random
banding? I ask, because I think that is what is happening to my CIS
system ink bottles.

Kitaro, Deuter, and Aeoliah are even better. The softer, more melodic,
the better.

Given Spielberg's opinion on digital "filmmaking" (let's just say
he's on the opposite side of the issue with George Lucas), I'm
not altogether surprised at his having that scene in the film
(which, sadly, I didn't go to see on the big screen - I'm allergic to
megaplexes;).
