I'd try a driver reinstall first, then check the memory you have for
"Epson Monitor 3" If that doesn't have enough memory, it can stop in
the middle of a print, if the file is large enough.

Thanks Jerry. Epson Monitor 3? I'm not famliar with that. Where
would I find that? I didn't install the ink monitor as I have one
for the 1280 driver. That wouldn't be it would it?

Tom, this is very weird. I can't find it anywhere on my hard drives, but
I KNOW I tripled the memory for it the last time I installed my 1280
printer driver. Its there somewhere, but I can't find it!

Oh well thanks anyway. I'll keep looking. The 1290 driver works as
good I think and hasn't acted up yet so maybe I'll just stick with
that.

Thanks for looking.

Tom

Hi Tom,

Epson monitor is an extension, and you just have to click on it once,
then go under file, info, memory, and change it there.

You are on a mac, of course! :)

Hi Jerry,

That's the problem I'm on a PC. XP to be exact. I should have
stated that to begin with. Sorry 'bout that.

Tim,

The Piezo/R9 plug-in will give you ease of use and generally get you to a
satisfying print more quickly that workflows using the Epson driver. Less
struggle with issues such as posterization. Profiles for a huge range of
papers. It is $149 very well spent if you want to work the FS inks. They
were specifically designed for use with the Piezo plug-in. The software will
also work with MIS-FSN, all four PiezoTone ink sets and both of the Sundance
ink sets.

At this point in time I would be inclined to purchase it directly from R9 at
their bwguys.com site. My understanding is that their version is more recent
and has more paper profiles. They have labeled it "Image Export BW".

Using also a 1160 with MIS FS Neutral and PiezographyBW : best tonal
range, smoother transisitions than Epson driver together with the
(excellent by the way) Jeff Randal's curves and of course if you use
different papers a huge amount of profiles. The biggest issue with
Piezo is the difficulties to have the prints matching the picture you
have on the screen (the Jon Cone's method consisting in using a self
made dot gain curve is rather unprecise).

But things are changing: Jon Cone and Piezography are going in the
next weeks to release a fully new software which is a RIP (see
www.piezography.com); apparently Epson 1160 will be supported. I
don't know if MIS inks will be included in Piezo's new package.
