1280 chip

1280 chip

Can you reset an Epson 1280 chip ? I am a little afraid to try it given previous problems. If anyone has done this I would appreciate knowing the outcome.

www.inkjetrefill.ca -- sells DOS sw (US$20), requires Win98, ME or
DOS boot floppy & serial cable connection, must reset cartridge
before 'low ink' warning lights on printer come on. site seems to be
down atm

www.inksupply.com -- sells 'universal' chip resetter device, a bit
more expensive but can be used on more than one printer (the sw above
has copy protection programmed for a single, specific printer)

Perhaps I should clarify my question, I mean the actual chip off the Epson cart. Not a new chip

deborah-

that is what the previous poster meant. you can reset
the chip on your epson cart. the actual chip on your
epson cart.

inksupply.com has a couple of methods for resetting an
epson chip. i use the little battry powered device
that is held up to a chip. it seems to work.

I forgot to mention the 'free' Swedish reset method -- you have to
have a set of new cartridges (you will need two sets anyway if you're
refilling), and you can transfer the fullness setting to the empty
cartridges. The process is explained on inksupply.com (and elsewhere).

Thanks, I have had some problems with these chips. I have a reseter,
but everytime I try something new I think Epson has planned some way
to screw it up...paranoid?

I don't know if the 1280 chips in my MIS carts are orginal Epson chips
or reverese engineered copies. But they reset just fine using the MIS
F-16 resetter. Just push the button, turn the printer off and back on
and the chips real full again. Meanwhile the CIS system just keeps
then full.

Actually the MIS F-16 resetter will work with any printer of that same
model without reprogramming. And the instructions to reprogram it for
a different model printer are on the MIS site (www.inksupply.com)
