I tried Lyson's Quad black set first, but found that I could not get the
linearity I wanted (big jumps between 97% black and 98%) I've seen properly
profiled prints which were better, but decided that there was too much of a
coloured tinge visible under the lighting conditions that my prints were
often viewed in.

The Lyson SG give just the response I was looking for, good deep blacks and
an even grey scale. I've never had any clogging problems, with my 1160.

Most of my landscape prints were done on Lyson semi-gloss and framed behind
glass. I've one print in a frame in the kitchen, where it also gets
occasional sunlight -- no noticeable fading after a year compared to other
prints. I've also produced a few prints on Lyson Fine Art paper which had
stunning blacks. The Lyson profiles have been an excellent match for my
particular 1160.

I don't personally tend to like toned prints, but the SG has also proved
useful for producing cleaned up enlargements of old prints for people.

For the particular needs I've had, I find the inks excellent. Of course it
helped in them being 'locally' produced and with several very helpful
suppliers.

If anyone is in the UK East Midlands and uses alternative B/W Ink sets I'd
be interested in comparing results.

No doubt I'll revisit the ink choices when I get a larger printer, but that
first needs a few more prints sold :-)) :-))
