Subject: [Digital BW] x-rite 418 color densitometer

I\ufffdm wondering if this device would allow me to jump into grey
profiling with IJC??
Any experiences?
(We have one on ebay over here in Germany, Item #
2517928428 . Auction is closed in about three hours.)
TIA
Bernd

Bernd,

Checking the same Ebay pages for some days now. The X-Rite DTP32
may be a better choice if it is for reading strips only, price is
lower so far. It is compatible with some Pro RIPs too.
www.xrite.com should tell you something. Delivery in Germany only
:-(

But I found another source in the Netherlands where two Gretag
(Macbeth) D142-3 densitometers are available. No idea how old
they are and what they will cost. I suppose they will be usable.

Bernd,

The Kodak densitometer also for sale at .de looks very much like
the X-rite 810. That's the one the others mentioned. I've seen
the X-rite 810 in more disguises: Noritsu 810 / 811. All have
been used at fast photoprintshops I guess, came with the printer.
Don't know whether it will be more difficult to get them
serviced/calibrated if rebranded.

Thanks for the hints, Ernst.
The 418 went away for about 500 $$, pretty much I think.
I had the same thoughts as you about the Kodak.
I´ll try to get some info from the guy who sells it. He seems to
have some more of those devices.
I´ll let you know, if I know more about it.
