permajet papers

2003-04-13 by Stephen Kobrin

I recently ordered some inks from MIS and asked them if they carried
Hahnemuhle papers. I thought that the person on the phone said yes
and they had a sample pack for $15 which I ordered. When it came, to
my surprise it was a sample pack of seven PermaJet papers -- artist
classic, museum classic, mattPlus and others. I these do not seem to
be Hahnemuhle papers, but look interesting and for $15 worth playing
with. Has anyone used them? Is it worth trying any of them with my
MIS-VM inks or should I just try them with color stuff on my 1280?
There are two glossy papers, "instant dry" which I assume will only
work with standard epson inks.

Any help appreciated.

Steve,

I haven't used them, but you can look up their info at:

http://www.permajet.com/pages/home.html

They are an English company much like Ilford, and their Instant Dry range
looks like a similar microceramic technology, while their artist range looks like
the usual coated art papers. They don't specify longevity expectations or
anything about OBAs or whether dyes or pigments are preferable with them.
But they look good.... "on paper".

You may want to compare notes with the equivalent Ilford site:

Either way, to really test them, you need to accurately profile them.
